In Sri Lanka the law is governed mostly by Roman Dutch law and English Law.
Presumption is defined as the act or instance of presuming something to be the case.
Presumptions are mainly used in the law of governing evidence when a party of a case needs to establish a fact. Legal presumption is an inference of the existence of some face which can be agreed upon merely proved from some other fact already proved or assumed to exist.
Presumptions of law can be divided into two main categories.
- Conclusive Presumptions
- Rebuttable presumptions
